Previously raced by leviathan owner Lloyd Williams, Bolton (NZ) was an impressive winner at Flemington last start for Northern Territory based trainer Stephen Brown.
The son of Zabeel (NZ) was backing up two weeks in succession and displayed a sparkling turn of foot to run out a one-and-three-quarter-length victor.
“He pulled up really well after the back up,” Brown told National Sport Radio. “I nearly ran him again last week.
“On paper this race looks ideal. When we bought him a few people tried to tell us he was a sprinter/miler but in Darwin he’s always shown that he would handle 2000 metres.
“I have no qualms about the distance. He may be found wanting towards the end but I am hoping that it’s all over by then.
Bolton (NZ) will again be partnered by Nicholas Hall.
The 2000 metres should be no issue for Bolton (NZ), a full-brother to Group One Queensland Oaks winner Vouvray (NZ) (Zabeel).
NZ-breds Montgomery (NZ) (Montjeu) and Seguro (NZ) (High Chaparral) will also line up in this race.
