Full Book for White Robe Newcomer
9th Sep 2010
First-season sire Raise The Flag (Sadler’s Wells) has kicked off his breeding career with a full book, including Sea Island (Woodman) who is the dam of Melbourne Cup hope Herculian Prince (Yamanin Vital).
Also on his book is six times stakes winning mare Perceptible (Personal Escort), and Capital Flight (Noble Bijou) who is the dam of six winners including listed winner Flight Capitan (Seasoned Star).
White Robe Lodge Stud Manager Wayne Stewart describes the son of, fourteen times Champion Sire, Saddler’s Wells as a “great type.”
“He has a lovely head on him, a good temperament and is perfect to handle,” said Stewart.
“He’s only young and he has a bit more maturing to do, but he is correct and a good 15.3hh.”
His dam is former US Broodmare of the year Hasili (Kahyasi). She is the dam of five Group-One winners and a granddaughter of Sookera (Roberto). Her progeny includes champions Intercontinental (Danehill), Champs Elysees (Danehill), Banks Hill (Danehill) and black-type winners Heat Haze (Green Desert), Cacique (Danehill), Dansili (Danehill) and Deluxe (Storm Cat).
The good looking bay is one of three sons of Hasili to retire to stud. His Half Brother Dansili is the sire of six individual Group-One winners, including Harbinger winner of the Gr.1 King George VI Stakes & Queen Elizabeth II Stakes. Champs Elysees is standing alongside Dansili at Juddmonte Stud in England this year.
Raise The Flag had only one race, due to a leg injury, which has proved to be a blessing in disguise for White Robe Lodge.
“If he had raced well we would never have seen him or his bloodlines in this part of the world, we are so lucky to have him here,” explained Stewart.
“I have been in contact with his French-trainer André Faber who said he had a lot of ability, and the potential to perform well,”
“He also trains the half sister Deluxe by Storm Cat, who won a listed race, was second in the Gr.1 Longchamp Prix de la Grange Aux Belles last season, and is expected to resume racing next season.”
Raise The Flag is not the first maiden to stand at White Robe Lodge. Former Champion New Zealand sires Mellay (Never Say Die) and Noble Bijou (Vaguely Noble) were both unraced and selected on pedigree.
Raise The Flag stands for a fee of $4000+ GST alongside Gallant Guru, Danzighill, and Seasoned Star at White Robe Lodge on the Taieri Plains in Otago.
