It's no surprise that recent New Zealand-bred Group One winners Alamosa, Orange County & Sousa are all Karaka Sale graduates.
New Zealand studs and breeders have a tradition of selling their best horses that goes back to Phar Lap, a graduate of the second National Yearling Sale.
Champions like Tulloch, Rising Fast, Dulcify, Beau Zam and Octagonal have taken the same journey from New Zealand sales to Australia's famous winning posts. Today the destinations of Karaka Sale graduates include Hong Kong, Singapore, Macau, and the United States.
Melbourne Cup winners Brew, Jezabeel & Efficient were bought at Karaka.
